Robert F. Thompson, 76, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Elkton, MD Friday, June 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving family after a four year battle with esophageal cancer.
Born November 10, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, Bob was the son of the late Robert W. and Margaret C. (Schultz) Thompson. Bob was an avid train collector and attended many model train events. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and food; whether he was dining out with his family and friends or planning and preparing breakfasts and dinners at home. His most cherished time was spent with his beloved family and his wonderful friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jean Thompson; three daughters, Jean M. Wilson and her husband, Rick of Port Deposit, Terri Schuck and her husband, Fred of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Peggy Bowen and her husband, Michael of Elkton, MD; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristy, Ricky, Kenny, Daniel, Connor, Carrie, Danielle, Nicole, Michael, and Matthew; and two great grandchildren, Allie and Brittney with a third on the way.
A memorial service will be held at 11am Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 105 Bridge Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10am. Another memorial will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Ormond Beach, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the ECAA: Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association and/or to St. James Episcopal Church and send in care to R.T.
