Robert B. Banks, Jr., age 66 of Middletown, DE passed away on June 27, 2017. He was born on April 25, 1951 in Elkton, MD to Mary A. Banks and the late Robert B. Banks, Sr.

Robert graduated from Bohemia Manor High School in 1969. In his early years, he worked at Shaffer’s in Chesapeake City, MD from 1965-1969. He was later employed by Eastern Shore Concrete Pipe Company as a welder and foreman in Bear, DE from 1970-1989. Robert owned Earlville Market in Earlville from 1990-1992. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesapeake City, MD. He loved traveling to Aruba and taking trips to Disney World with his family. Robert loved his three granddaughters, classic rock, gardening, and all things history.

Robert is survived by his wife, Cheryl L. Banks of Middletown, DE; son, Robert J. Banks and his partner, Will Brown of Baltimore, MD; granddaughters: Lainey Banks of Eldersburg, MD, Maddy Banks of Baltimore, MD, and Lauren Banks of Baltimore, MD; mother, Mary Banks of Chesapeake City, MD; and brother, Ron Banks, Sr. and his wife, Carol of Middletown, DE.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert B. Banks, Sr. who passed away in 1984.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Family and friends may attend the visitation beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will follow the service at Bethel Cemetery, 312 Bethel Cemetery Road, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to, “Neighborhood House” and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

I have know Cheryl and Robert for many, many years and have worked with them on a number of trips to the Caribbean. robert was one of the nicest persons I have worked with and had a unique sense of humor. I also found Robert to have a very strong will to keep on going regardless of the numerous health problems he dad. We are so sad for Cheryl and family and wish that we were able to attend the service and be there for them. Robert was a good Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend and will be missed. Marge & John Taggart

Barry says that Robert was not just his brother-in-law with a great sense of humor but a good friend. Rachel remembers Uncle Robert always being ready to tease and play and goof off with her and Lainey and the twins. I always appreciated Robert for being good to my sister-in-law Cheryl and knowing that he loved her with all of his heart. You will be missed until we can meet again Robert.

Robert you were such a good man and you will be missed so much. We know you are in heaven and you will never suffer anymore pain. God bless you Robert. Prayers and sympathy for the Banks Family on the loss of a wonderful man.
