Richard Rich Lowe

Richard H. Lowe, of Wilmington, DE, formally of Sarasota, FL, died peacefully at Heartland Hospice of Pike Creek, DE, at the age of 83.

Richard, or “Rich”, grew up in Detroit, MI, close with his dear older brother Russell. At the age of 18, Rich joined the U.S. Navy, enjoying an enlistment of 8 years, serving on several ships; his favorite, the U.S.S. Mindoro. Rich served during the Korean War. During those years, he married his sweetheart Gail, and they raised their two children Elaine and Timothy together. Throughout their lives, after parting ways, they remained good friends throughout the years. After the Navy, Rich working for Ryder Trucking in Newark, DE for 35 years. After retiring from Ryder, Rich made his home in Florida. He loved the beach, dining out, and spending time with his friends. Rich also enjoyed attending church. Several of his dear friends are: Bernie and Marcy, Millard and Joan and, Renze and May, all of Florida, a dear friend, love and companion, formerly of Florida is Carol Yager of Texas.

A special thank you goes out to Rich’s friends, our families and friends, and our dear friend Rev. Joseph Essington, and to all of the lovely nurses and staff at Heartland Hospice for their love and devotion to our Dad, Richard Lowe.

Richard is survived by his former wife, Gail Anderson, son, Timothy (Sherrol) Lowe, daughter, Elaine; grandchildren: Brittany (Ryan) Haswell and Joshua Lowe; great-grandson, Cole, brother, Russell Lowe of Texas, and dear friend, Carol, also of Texas.

Services for Rich will be held privately at the family’s convenience.
