Phyllis Marie Maier of Newark, DE, age 88, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020. Phyllis was born on December 8, 1932 in Fox Chase, PA to the late Clark Cahall and Lillian (Wilson) Haley.
Phyllis was a 1950 Newark High School graduate. She attended Goldey Beacom College and later worked for DuPont as a secretary and St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Newark. Phyllis was a very loving person especially to her family. She will also be remembered as a hard worker and fiercely independent.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Linda Cooper (Brian); son, Kevin Hamilton of Elsmere, DE; son, Mark Hamilton (Kim) of Elsmere, DE; sisters: Jacqueline Haas of Newark, DE, Marilyn Burnitz of Rehoboth, DE; brother, William Cahall (Alice) of Bear, DE; 4 grandchildren: Robert & Daniel Willson, Leanne & Steven Cooper and 3 great grandchildren: Harley Mercure, and Lukas & Coltyn Willson. In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Maier who passed away in 2020, and husband, Robert F.X. Hamilton who passed away in 1989.
Services for Phyllis will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “American Diabetes Association” and sent in care of R.T. Phyllis' passing will leave a huge void for those of us who loved her. She was one of the kindest people I have ever known. When my parents, Phyll's aunt and uncle passed, she always provided words of sympathy and shared memories of mom I would never have known. Just hearing her say how much she missed my folks have me such comfort. So, in that same Spirit, I want Phyll's daughter and sons to know how very much we will miss her and hope it helps them navigate the loss of their precious mother.
