Paula May Snelling

September 29, 1950 - March 21, 2022

Paula May Snelling of North East, MD, age 71, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022. She was born in Mabscott, WV on September 29, 1950 to the late Paul Helmick, Sr. and Gloria Maxine (Hankins) Helmick.

Paula worked for W.L. Gore for over 36 years in various positions, until her retirement in 2015, having made many friends during her time there. After her retirement, she devoted her time to her grandchildren. Paula enjoyed crafting, painting and working with her hands. A home body, she preferred to spend her time at home with her animals and family.

Paula is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, John “Butch” Snelling; four children: Walter Ritchie (Tina), Angela McGuigan (Dan), Karry Snelling and Michael Snelling; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters: Drema Wingler, Gloria Helmick, Thelma Fitzwater (Mike) and Amanda Billings (Larry); as well as her beloved dog, Rosie. In addition to her parents, Paula was preceded in death by her brother, Paul “Buster” Helmick, Jr.

A celebration of Paula’s life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, 4800 Pulaski Hwy., Perryville, MD 21903, where the service will begin promptly at 11 am.

Butch and family……..Paula was my work mom and she brightened everyday! We talked a lot about our families and though I’ve not met her grand children and children, please know she was proud of you and cherished you! Her loss is universal to everyone she connected as she knew no stranger . We were blessed to have her in our lives but this loss was too soon! God must have needed her to be his angel!
