Paul Robert Stark, age 68, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. His daughter Melissa and her loving family were by his side. He was born on January 16, 1944 in Chicago, IL to the late C. Hilmer and Jean (Virginia) Stark. In 1963, Paul moved with his family to Briarcliff, NY where he served as a volunteer firefighter for the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department. After joining the army, he moved to Newark, DE where he was stationed at the US Army Test and Evaluation Command at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He served with distinction as a 1st Lieutenant Artillery Commander during the Vietnam Era. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the Federal Reserve, Container Corp. of America and Rodel Inc.
Paul enjoyed reading, cooking, computers, and working with his hands. He also liked traveling, spending time with family, and teaching his grandsons to build things. He was a loving father, devoted brother, proud grandfather, and cherished friend. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and warm, gentle smile.
Paul is survived by his daughter Melissa Dalton and her husband Charles Jr. of Middletown, DE; brothers David Stark and wife Rita of Kankakee, IL, Bill Stark and wife Mary of Ithaca, NY, and Josh (Tom) Stark and wife Kimberlee of Keller, TX, and his sister Jean Stark and her husband Walter Kroner of Lake Luzerne, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Charles (CJ) Dalton III, John (Jack) Dalton, Brenden Dalton, James May and Jaqulynne May; and his daughter, Michelle Ward of Oxford, NC. Paul will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Services will be at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Parish, 371 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE. Friends and family may call at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seasons Hospice, c/o R.T. Foard and Jones, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
