Patricia G. Peraino, age 89, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. Born on December 19, 1935, in Baltimore County, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Estelle (née Drgos) Glass and the devoted wife of Joseph Peraino.
A 1953 graduate of Kenwood High School, Patricia went on to earn her Associate’s degree from Essex Community College. She spent much of her professional life there as an Administrative Assistant in the Humanities and Arts Department, where her dedication and warm spirit left a lasting impression. She also served as Chairperson of the college’s Summer Theater Program, a role that reflected her deep appreciation for the arts. A lifelong learner, Patricia continued to take classes well into her later years, nurturing her curiosity and love of knowledge.
Patricia couldn’t stay idle, she was hired by the University of Delaware as an assistant/secretary, helping students with their entrance papers.
Patricia had a vibrant creative side—she was an avid painter and found joy in decorating and making her home a welcoming space. She especially loved spending time at the beach and cherished her home in Cape May. Whether through reading, painting, or simply exploring new ideas, she was always expanding her horizons.
She will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and enduring love for her family and friends. Patricia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Peraino; her children, Donna Smigle and Joseph K. Weihs (Tanya); Joseph’s children, Marc Peraino (wife Joann), and Robert Peraino (wife Nikki); her grandchildren, Eric Hughes, Abigail Durbano (and her husband, Anthony), Kelly Weihs, Kyle Weihs (Emily); Joseph’s grandchildren: Dominick Peraino, Joseph Peraino, Erica Shantz and Gina Phares; and her great-grandchildren, Mathilda Durbano, Finley Weihs and Lilah Weihs.
In accordance with Patricia’s wishes, all services will be private.
