Hazel Malinda Varner, age 82 of Oxford, PA passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Born on July 29, 1939 in Lewistown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence (nee,Dobbs) Williams and the devoted wife of 63 years to the late Eugene “Gene” Varner.
Hazel was a fun, loving and giving mother. She was always surrounded by family. Hazel was an amazing cook at home and at work. She cooked for two Fraternity Houses at the University of Delaware as well as the MBNA and Bank of America’s Cafeteria.
Her family remembers her for her feisty personality. She really enjoyed partying and entertaining with family and friends. Hazel loved to collect butterflies and birds. She enjoyed growing beautiful flowers in her gardens and watching the butterflies and birds enjoy them as much as she did. Hazel had a great love for animals, especially caring for and spoiling her pet chihuahuas. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Sherri (Michael) Stanley of Rising Sun, MD; son, Douglas Varner of Oxford, PA; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a multitude of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark Varner and daughter-in-law Sandy Snyder.
