Michael Keller Lynch age 72 of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19th, 2025. He was born on October 25th, 1952 in Buffalo, NY to the late Gerald Ackley and Marion Hedding Lynch.
A proud graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1970, Michael continued his education by attending classes at The University of Delaware. He then went on to serve his country with honor in The United States Marine Corps, embodying a spirit of dedication and bravery that defined his life. He worked for Acme Markets for 41 years. His life was a testament to dedication, service and compassion. Michael was a dedicated and lifelong member of The Independent Order of Odd Fellows I.O.O.F joining Centreville Lodge #37 in 1989. He served with great honor in numerous leadership roles, including Past Grand Master, Past Grand Patriarch and Past Grand Secretary of Delaware. Michael was also a proud member of The Canton and The Rebekahs. In addition, he was an active member of The Delaware State Grange, where he served as State Master from 2012-2020 and was named Granger of The Year in 2021. His commitment to service was recognized nationally when he was awarded The Quilt of Valor at the National Session.
Michael was a passionate fan of baseball and football. He was a lifelong supporter of The Philadelphia Phillies and The Philadelphia Eagles rarely missing a televised game. He also found joy and serenity in nature, especially during quiet moments spent fishing, golfing or traveling with friends. Above all, Michael was a man who cherished friendship and family. He was blessed with many lasting friendships and met the love of his life, Helen Pierce Lynch in 1986. They were married in October of 1989 and shared over 35 wonderful years together. Michael was a faithful member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church joining in 1990 and served on several committees.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Helen, sister Jane Ackley Lynch, his Goddaughter Alyssa Patel, Godson Aidan Blanco and many love ones.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may begin visiting at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in adjoining Cemetery.
