Matthew “Matt” John Meola of Elkton, MD, age 37 passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 5, 2022. He was born on December 29, 1984 in Glen Cove, NY to Carmine and Margaret Meola.

Matt was a laid-back person that liked to go with the flow. An animal lover, his heart and home were always open to strays. Matt was athletic, having taken Jujitsu (an extension of his enthusiasm for MMA), taught himself to use a bow and nun chucks. He also was a Yankees fan, collected swords, and especially liked dragons. An avid, life-long gamer, Matt played many videogames of any genre. Above all, he will be thought of a good friend, brother, son, uncle; with a generous heart and forgiving spirit. Matt will be dearly missed.

Matt is survived by his parents, Carmine and Margaret Meola; two sisters: Angela Iwanowski and husband, Steve and Michele Kenny; three nieces: Ivy Meola, Meadow Rice-Meola and Melanie Iwanowski; and numerous extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. A celebration of Matt’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, in Rising Sun, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 am. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Matt’s honor may be made to Ashley Addiction Treatment, https://www.ashleytreatment.org/donate/tribute-and-memorial/.
