Mary Rebecca (Becky) DiGiovanni
Becky was born on a small farm in West Virginia. Her mother was a teacher, and her father was a carpenter. Becky was the first in her family to earn a college degree. College was where she met the love of her life “Lou”. They were married 55 years. Even though she was raised on a farm Becky thrived while living in Brooklyn, NY during the first 5-6 years of marriage. She loved her later suburban life, both in New Jersey and Delaware. Becky was active in charity and civic affairs, and also liked knitting lap robes for the elderly at the state hospital. Becky loved flowers, landscaping, working in her yard, and reading, reading, reading. Becky was a lifelong Presbyterian and a member of Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church.
Becky was predeceased by her youngest son Thomas (Tom) in 1984 and her husband Louis (Lou) in 2008. She is survived by her oldest son Louis (Lou), wife Kathy, daughter Joani Helms, her husband Allen, and her much loved and cherished granddaughter Rachel Helms.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may begin visiting at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity or church of your choice or the “Special Olympics” and sent in care of the funeral home.
