Mary Lou Bashore, age 77 of Newark, DE passed away suddenly on August 3, 2025. She was born on May 31, 1948 in Wilmington, DE to the late Bayard Oscar Perry and Jane Fayette (Trethaway) Perry.
One word that we can all agree on that defined Mary Lou was “selfless”. She was known to always put others before herself and her door was always open to anyone who needed help.
Mary Lou was a dedicated and devoted owner to her business, Bayshore Communications for 58 years. She ran a tight ship, but in return she had a very successful business. Her life was her work. She wanted to be in the office to oversee operations and was proud to have her business open 24/7, 7 days a week.
When she was not in the office, Mary Lou enjoyed reading books- mystery and romance novels and found peace and solace when visiting Rehoboth Beach where she would sit and listen to the waves.
She was the matriarch of the family. Mary Lou hosted all the family holiday parties for many years. She loved to cook and make desserts for family and friends. She would bake a special treat, whether it be cupcakes, pies, or cake for her family members on their birthday to make them feel special that day. She was known for her cupcakes!
Before her husband, John passed, they spent a lot of time on the water sailing in local waters.
Mary Lou is survived by her sons: Rob Bashore and his significant other, Lauren and Tony Bashore and his wife, Ruth; sisters: Kristin Baynes and Theresa McGalliard and her husband, Richard; brother, Thomas Perry and his wife, Holly; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her beloved dog, Diamond. She is also survived by her personal assistant, Paige Ross and long-time office manager, Julie Thompson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Bashore and brother, C. Michael Perry.
A celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11AM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc. 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the viewing beginning at 10AM. Burial will be private. Donations may be made payable to, “Faithful Friends” and sent in care of the funeral home.
