Mary Elizabeth Beagan, 72, of Elkton, MD, passed away on July 26th, 2025, leaving behind a life of resilience, strength, and an unforgettable spark.
She truly was an unforgettable person.
Always put together with her effortless sense of style, she had an infectious smile, vibrant green eyes, and a presence so strong, it would light up the darkest of rooms. She was known for always smelling as lovely as she looked, with her trademark fuchsia-painted toenails and an oversized leather purse. You always knew where she was, because the scent of Giorgio perfume filled the air.
She had a transformative touch, turning even the plainest space into vibrant garden paradise. She loved collecting historical trinkets to fill her garden and spending time learning about history. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: the beach, card games, crossword puzzles, soaking in the beauty of the outdoors while tending to her garden, cooking, and reading magazines.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Anthony Beagan II; her cherished son, James Anthony Beagan III; her parents, Howard Madden and Elizabeth Madden [Boyd]; and her brothers, Howard, Philip, Joseph, William, Mark, and Kevin.
She is survived by her brother James, her four devoted children-Kelly, Meridith, Frank, and Sara—along with her four treasured grandchildren.
Though her presence will be missed beyond words, the strength, kindness, sarcasm, and laughter she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, honor her memory by planting something beautiful. Some of her favorite flowers were morning glory, cosmos, coleus, black eyed susan’s, and sunflowers.
