On March 20^th, 2025 Mary Banks, 91 passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Mrs. Banks was born in Smyrna Delaware. She was the daughter to Edward and Hilda (Morris) Thompson. She was married to the late Robert Banks, Sr., whom she shared a home in Chesapeake City, Maryland.

Mary dedicated her life to family and friends. She traveled a little bit, (but never by airplane). Mrs. Banks was a strong willed, kindhearted soul. She would always tell you how she felt, as well as show you a lot of love. She had some simple pleasures in life. She would look forward to bingo at the fire hall, going to Dover Downs, or just playing cards with family and friends.  Mary will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by her son, Robert Banks, Jr., her siblings: Edward Thompson, Loretta Baxter, Norma Gibbs, Ralph Thompson, and her great grandson, Logan Banks.

Mrs. Banks is survived by her son, Ron Banks, Sr., and his wife, Carol; her grandchildren: Robert “Bobby” Banks, Ron Banks, Jr., Amy Bednash; her great grandchildren: Lainey, Andrew, Mattie, Lauren, Ronnie, III; her siblings: David and Marie and Charles, Jr., and Kathy Brown, Pauline Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as extended family.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00AM. Following the services, she will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery.
