Martha Eugenia Daniels, age 83, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026. She was born on May 15, 1942 in San Jose, Costa Rica, to the late Fernando Arias and Martha Roquett.
Martha was a woman who carried sunshine in her spirit. She loved bright, beautiful days and felt most at peace with the warmth of the sun on her face and the sound of the water nearby.
Some of her happiest moments were spent at her family’s waterfront property in Deal Island, Maryland, along the Chesapeake Bay. The gentle waves, salty breeze, and wide-open skies brought her comfort and joy. The beach was not just a destination for Martha — it was a place where she felt truly at home.
She had a deep love for nature. Gardening brought her great happiness, especially tending to her flowers and watching them bloom under her care. She found quite delight in birdwatching, with a special fondness for cardinals, whose bright red feathers never failed to make her smile.
Martha’s heart extended to all creatures great and small. She adored animals and treasured her “granddogs” and “grandcats,” showering them with affection and pride. Her compassion and warmth were evident in the way she cared for every living thing.
Music was another of Martha’s great loves. She especially enjoyed Latino music and had a particular fondness for the timeless songs of Julio Iglesias. Even in her final moments, the melodies she loved so much filled the air — a fitting tribute to a life lived with warmth, rhythm, and heart.
Martha will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of nature and animals, and the quiet joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Her memory will continue to shine as brightly as the sunny days she cherished.
Martha is survived by her children: Alvaro “Will” Camacho and his wife, Sandy, and daughters, Eugenia “Gennie” Critzer and Jennifer Porter and 3 grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmo Daniels, and siblings: Annie Lopez, Fernando Arias, and Arnoldo Arias.
Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to any of the animal shelter of your choice and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
