Peg was always an inspiration to me. My ears perked up when she spoke. I also remember how she helped me survive quitting smoking at 10 years sober. I know how much she will be missed by those of us who were blessed by her experience strength and hope.

Although Peg was only 8 months sober when I came to AA in Newark, Delaware, I asked her to be my sponsor because because she obviously loved AA. She just radiated joy for her sobriety. I wanted what she had. I still talk about her today at meetings.....and this is one of the stories I share. I got sober because I didn't want to lose my job....unfortunately, shortly after my 1 year anniversary, my boss gave me the unwelcome news that my job was going away. I left his office, walked upstairs to my office, closed the door, and called Peg. When she answered, I said, "What's the worst thing that could happen to me?!?!" Peg answered, "You could take a drink!" I paused....then asked, "So what's the SECOND worst thing that could happen to me?" And Peg said, "You could lose your job." Just like that, she grounded me. It was always clear that Peg loved her children unconditionally...and I remember that when she was remarrying her husband that she talked about the pre-marital counseling they were attending. That sounded like a good idea, so when I met my husband in 1989 we entered couples counseling.....which is a major reason why we are able to celebrate 25 years of marriage later this year. Thank you God for placing Peg in my life's journey. I know you will miss her......You are in my prayers. Paula Blomenberg (Tampa, Florida) and Chuck Rager
