Margaret ‘Peg’ Harris Cornwell, age 94 of North East, MD passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Peg was born in Bayview, MD on December 11, 1917 to the late Clarence and Flora May Harris.
Mrs. Cornwell retired from the State of Maryland Health Dept. where she worked as a lab technician. In later years she worked at Chantilly Golf Course and the North East and Havre de Grace Acme. She was past President of the American Legion Post #194 Auxiliary of Rising Sun where she was a lifetime member.
Her enjoyments in life were her family, travelling, baking, dancing, spending time with friends and meeting new people.
Peg is survived by her children, the joys of her life; son, Herbert H. Cornwell and his wife Mary Ellen and daughter, Kay McKinney; grandchildren, Melissa Heldmyer and her husband JR, Krista McKinney and William Paulette and his wife Danya; great grandchildren, Amanda and Amber Kerstetter, Rachel Heldmyer, Lindsay and Sarah Keithley, Alyssa and William Paulette and dear to her heart, great nephew, David W. Brown and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Flora May Malin, Dick and Frank Harris, and son-in-law Donald McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Calvert, MD. The family wishes to thank Season’s Hospice for their kindness and attentiveness to their mother.
