Kenneth “Ken” D. Thomas, age 69, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was born on June 15, 1950 in Baltimore, MD to the late Kenneth and Corinne (Dombroski) Thomas.

Ken proudly served his country in the United States Army. He graduated Suma Cum Laude at the University of Baltimore in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science and started working at Alger Oil in 1981 and advanced to become General Manager before his retirement in 2017. Ken was a life-time member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, American Legion Post 194, and a part of the Sun East Credit Union Advisory Committee. He loved being near the water. Ken was an avid reader and could often be found at the Cecil County Public Library. He enjoyed going golfing or would sometimes sing karaoke, performing “Always on My Mind” by Willie Nelson. Ken loved his dogs: Skandyl, Brooklyn, Dunkin, Paisley, and Dixon. He will be dearly missed by his grandson Carter because of their special bond. Ken found his greatest joy spending time with his family.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 9 years, Donna Thomas of Port Deposit, MD; daughter, Laura Morse and her husband, Steve of Havre De Grace, MD; son, Paul Thomas of Aberdeen, MD; step children: Amber Roark, Skylar Taraborelli, and Connor Taraborelli; grandchildren: Devin Morse, Logan Thomas, Carter Taraborelli, Kyle Morse, and Lee Morse; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at American Legion Post 194, 338 East Main Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. where friends and family may begin visiting at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ken’s honor may be made payable to “American Legion Post 194” and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 248 Rising Sun, MD 21911.
