Aunt Kay was especially devoted to her mother Helen Sharpless and her sister, Barbara Astle both preceding her in death. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the U of D with special interests in history and politics. She spent her early adult life living and working in New York City. She loved to travel. She instilled in us a love for the fine arts, museums and theatre. Family members and friends will remember her for her love of animals especially her passion for cats. She also loved tending to her nieces and nephews, but mostly she was a friend to all she met. She was a gifted conversationalist. Her wonderful sense of humor and generous spirit were just a few of her remarkable qualities. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her sister, Marie Toman; nieces, Jean Toman, Claire Stevens, Deb Sidell and nephew, Mike Wenke; Great nieces – Lacey Stevens, Erin Levesque; great nephew Michael Sidell; Great-great nephew Archer Levesque; and great-great niece Adeline Levesque.
Services for Kay will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the ASPCA.org/honor donations or to the “Delaware SPCA” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
