Joyce Fay Channell, age 88, of Bel Air, MD passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. She was born in Baltimore, MD on September 13, 1937, to the late William Joseph Teal and the late Nannie Ramsey (Laubach) Teal.
Joyce dedicated her life to her family and her work, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. Joyce’s professional journey included a role as an Administrative Assistant at Johns Hopkins in the OBGYN department, where she served with dedication for many years. Following this, she became the Office Manager for the Neurology Department at MD General Hospital, a position she held for more than 20 years before retiring.
Joyce was known for her incredible love for her family and particularly enjoyed family gatherings. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Mandy,” a special bond she shared with them. Joyce enjoyed watching the Ravens and Orioles with her family, creating lasting memories.
Joyce was a very social person who thrived in the company of others, often attending events and making new friends. She had a passion for reading, particularly the works of Danielle Steel, and a love for shopping. She always made sure to leave the house with her “Dressy Self,” complete with a full face of makeup and hair done.
Another one of Joyce’s talents was her culinary skill; she made the best spaghetti and stew, always preferring to create meals from scratch with love and care. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joyce is survived by her children: Don Moore and his wife, Lynn, Kim Guerin and her husband, Rich; step-children: Theresa Channell-Ramos, Stephen Channell, Jr., and Paul Channell; grandchildren: Zachary Moore, Jake Guerin, Dylan Moore, Jeremy Guerin, Emily Guerin, Douglas Channell, and Josh Channell; 6 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; siblings: Shirley Harrington, and Edward Teal.
In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Douglas Channell.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may begin visiting at 1PM. Burial will be held privately.
