Zeke was a computer programmer specialist for the government. He could fix anything and enjoyed fixing electronics and cars. Zeke was an avid fan of cars and drag racing. Zeke found pleasure in the pursuit of life’s simple pleasures, including splitting wood. He was also a proud member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Zeke is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-one years Joan (Lambert) Gilley from Colora, MD; three children: Mark Gilley and his wife Joyce, David Gilley and his wife Donna, and Jeff Gilley; six grandchildren: Michael Gilley, Chris Gilley, Evann Reichenbach, Caleb Gilley, Justin Gilley, and Morgan Kessler; and twelve great grandchildren. Including his parents, Zeke was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Rex “Mose” Gilley.

A celebration of Zeke’s life will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Friends and family may begin visiting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at West Nottingham Cemetery in Colora, MD. Rather than flowers, contributions can be made payable to “Calvert Manor Healthcare Center” and sent in care of the funeral home.

Mr. Gilley will surely be missed. So sorry for your loss.

Devoted Brothers were Zeke and Mose. Zeke was kind, always smiling, always was ok with everything, loved his children and grandchildren. They were always the very best at everything they did in his eyes. He was really smart and excelled at computer programming before most of us even knew about computers. Mose could always depend on him to help him fix things, whether it was a race car, his truck, an old VCR hookup in those days, and thought his brother was just the "best. Mose visited him most every day at Calvert until the day Mose died. I am so glad they had each other.

I worked in the Activities Dept. at Calvert Manor where I had a special program for the men once a month. Several times my husband came to tell of his career working on the Chesapeake Bay as a Commercial Waterman. Joe often times would stop me in the hall to ask what John was catching. Joe really enjoyed John's stories. I will be keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers.
