Johnnie Lee Dudley, Jr., “John”, age 62 of Newark, DE passed away on August 30, 2025. He was born on June 11, 1963 in Wilmington, DE to the late Johnnie Lee Dudley, Sr. and Sue Ellen (Glass) Dudley.
When John was in high school, he was a strong athlete. He was a track star and held many records. People would joke and say that he was “the fastest white boy in all of New Castle County.”
After high school, John joined the US Army and proudly served from 1981-1984. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and a Driver and Mechanic Badge. He also earned the title of Cannon Fire Direction Specialist.
John loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a life long hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed bow and gun hunting and liked to go fishing and crabbing on his brother, Howard’s boat with his family and friends. John and his sons shared many special moments hunting deer and fishing, which will be cherished forever.
John is survived by his wife of 27 years, Brenda Dudley; sons: Kyle Dudley (Liz) and Logan Dudley; grandchildren: Wyatt and Kyle Dudley; siblings: Howard Dudley (Amy) and Donna Witting (Steve); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Harry Dudley.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 11:30AM at RT Foard & Jones, Inc. 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the viewing beginning at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Zach Rushing Foundation” and sent in care of the funeral home.
