John Robert Jones, age 78, of North East, Maryland, passed away on October 7, October 2025 peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Marion, Virginia on September 17, 1947, he was the son of the late John W. and Lollie A. Jones, and the devoted husband of 59 years to his beloved wife, Drinda (Mitcham) Jones.
John proudly worked as an electrician for General Motors for many years until his well-earned retirement. Known for his strong work ethic and quiet dependability, he took pride in a job well done and in providing for his family.
A true outdoorsman at heart, John found joy and peace in nature. He loved hunting and fishing, and he could often be found tending his garden or caring for his honeybees. His hands were always busy—whether working on a project, helping a neighbor, or teaching his sons valuable life skills. John was the kind of man who would drop everything to lend a hand to someone in need.
Above all, John was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who took great pride in his family and the life he built with them. He taught his sons by example what it meant to work hard, live honestly, and care deeply. His kindness, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Sean Jones; sisters, Marie Baker and Patsy Yonce; and his brother-in-law, David Parks.
He is survived by his wife, Drinda Jones; son, Robert Jones; grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Leah, and Maddie; sisters, Frances Cox and Brenda Parks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
