John Raymond Reed III, age 40, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025 as a result of injuries sustained from a tragic accident. He was born on July 20, 1985 in Newark, DE to John Raymond Reed Jr. and Barbara Dawn Reed (Davis).
John was the essence of a true country boy, although he lived in the city. His passion for the outdoors, nature, and animals was obvious. He had an extraordinary gift with animals of all kinds, caring for strays, handling reptiles and taming backyard creatures. Throughout his life, John encountered many personal struggles. Yet he consistently offered helpd to those in need, no matter the situation. He was also known for his temper, humor, and straightforwardness.
John was a graduate of Perryville High School (2003), and joined the United States Marine Corp. After Boot Camp at Parris Island, he attended the School of Infantry at Camp Lejeune, earning his Marksmanship Rifle Badge and National Defense Service Medal.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his son, John Raymond Reed IV; his long-time girlfriend and love of his life, Jamie Ueberroth; extended grandfather, Dewey “Tom” Hutchens; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. John is preceded in death by his little brother, Jason Robert Reed; grandfather, Myron Haas; grandmother, Peggy Haas; and grandfather, John Raymond Reed Sr.
A private gathering will be held for family and close friends.
