John proudly served in the US Army from 1943-1945. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing motorcycles. John had a passion for gardening and always grew large and plentiful gardens with a wide variety of vegetables. He also enjoyed going boating and fishing. John was a lifelong member of the Elkton VFW. He was a former member of the BSA Motorcycle Club of Newark, DE and he belonged to the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
John is survived by his children: Carol A. Morrison-Shultz and her special friend, Richard Travalini, Jeanie Morrison, and Robert W. Morrison, Sr.; grandchildren: Kandi Brister, Carl Freezer, John Gray, Kristina Suttle, David Collins, Jr., Rebecca Collins, and Brian Morrison; 17 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth R. Conaway.
He is preceded by his brother, Robert W. Morrison; grandson, Robert W. Morrison, Jr.; and wife, Elaine Morrison.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 1PM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc. 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the viewing beginning at 12PM. Burial will follow at Head of Christiana Cemetery.
