John Daniel Harvey, age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away on February 11, 2022. He was born in Wilmington, DE on December 27, 1935 to the late Daniel Alfrey Harvey and Grace Verna (Howell) Harvey.

John worked for many years for Chrysler, was an officer with UAW, a member of the Newark Historical Society, was involved with the Newark High School Alumni Association and was almost an Eagle Scout. He loved traveling, older cars, yorkie dogs, and going out to eat with his friends and family. John was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed U of D football and basketball.

John is survived by his three children: Daniel B. Harvey, Victoria Lynn Harvey, and Diane Marie Harvey; six grandchildren: Rachelle Harvey-Batsford, Robby Coleman, Charly Smith, Sam McNeil, Alex Harvey, and Caitie Gillespy; eight great-grandchildren: Tabitha, Austin, Heath, Ezra, Douglas, Maeva, Lilah, Lillian; sister, Patricia Ann Murphy; beloved dog, Koko; and numerous extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Christ the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Rd., Bear, DE 19701. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2pm.
