Joe Lenerman Bare of Elkton, MD, age 85, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born on October 4, 1931 in Glendale Springs, NC to the late Everett Bare and Lessie (Seaver) Bare.
Joe worked for 31 years for GM before retiring in 1983. He later worked in maintenance for Nottingham Towers for 10 years. Joe went on to work at Elk Neck State Park for over 10 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Elkton, MD for his entire life. During that time Joe served as the song leader, despite his insistence that he couldn’t sing, for decades. He was also an elder and treasurer for the Church of Christ. Joe loved the simple things in life like mowing the grass.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Anita B. Holmes and her husband, Tom of Elkton, MD; two sons: Brian K Bare of Elkton, MD and Mark A. Bare and his wife, Kelly of Elkton, MD and nine grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Bare; son Billy Joe Bare, and great-grandson, Gavin Fortune.
A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. Family and friends may begin visiting at 1PM. Burial will follow at Church of Christ Cemetery.
