Joan Phyllis Blankenship, age 79, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born on January 2, 1947, in Chestertown, MD, Joan was the loving daughter of the late Cortlen Argo, and the late Virginia (Taylor) Argo.
Joan’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence. She cherished every moment spent with her children and especially grandkids. Joan enjoyed watching and cheering on her grandchildren at their baseball and football games, her love and support was unwavering.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Joan enjoyed being out and about. Camping trips were among her most treasured experiences, where she shared in the joy of discovery with her family. She was equally at home on the dance floor, moving gracefully to the rhythms of the music.
Joan’s enthusiasm for life extended to the simple pleasure of eating crabs, a pastime she delighted in after spending a day crabbing and boating the local rivers. Joan’s kitchen was another place of joy, where she expressed her love through the meals she cooked, each dish a testament to her thoughtfulness and care for others’ well-being.
Joan is survived by her children: Dee McNaughton (husband, Kenny), Joe Langshaw (wife, Eunice), Larry Langshaw (wife, Lauren), and Allen Blankenship (wife, Kelly); fourteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Blankenship; son, Greg Langshaw; grandson, Jacob Langshaw; and sister, Joyce Lloyd.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may begin visiting at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “American Cancer Society” and sent in care of the funeral home.
