Howard Ronald Mann, “Ron”, age 86 of Newark, DE passed away on January 3, 2019. He was born on October 24, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Howard Blaney Mann and Ida Virginia (Clark) Mann.
Ron worked for Tetra Tech where he retired after 42 years. He was a board member of Brookside Community for 25 years and within those years he accomplished many tasks, coached Little League for the community, and even built the walking bridge, which his family refers to as “Grandpop’s Bridge”. Ron was a family man and always put his family first. He loved his grandsons and made sure to attend all of their activities. Ron was a self-taught music composer and very talented.
Ron is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy (Drummond) Mann; daughter, Nancy Mann (Barbara Chance); sons: Ron Mann (Lisa) and Peter Mann (Kathi); sister, Virginia D’Ambro; grandchildren: Eric Mann (Carolyn), PJ, and Steven Mann; and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Season’s Hospice” or “St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church” and sent in care of the funeral home.
