Harold George Roth, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Millcroft Nursing Home in Newark, DE. He was born December 5, 1925, in Camden, NJ, to the late George Henry and Laura May (Reppert) Roth.

Harold was studying pharmacology, when he entered the Navy in 1944. There he served for 2-1/2 years, on several ships and facilities. It was a time in his life that he looked back on with pride. He worked and owned various independent pharmacies before going to work for “Happy Harry’s”, from which he retired.

He enjoyed playing games with his family and friends, especially board games involving strategy, card games, ping pong or just relaxing in the yard, pitching horseshoes or some croquet. Harold served as a Scout Master for his sons’ troop. He was a member of the Masons, St. John’s Lodge #2 AF & AM in old New Castle, DE. He was known as a man with “a great sense of humor, kind and gentle, and well loved by all those who met him”.

He survived by his sons, Daniel Roth and his wife Maria “Katy”, of Hatfield, PA, Gordon Roth, and his wife, Doris, of Hockessin, DE, and Russell Roth, and his wife, Donna, of Lake Forest, CA; a brother, Roy Roth, of Chapel Hill, NC; six grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

A Masonic Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Funeral service will follow. Family and friends may visit one hour prior, beginning at 10:30. Burial will be 1PM at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
