Gerald Lee Shivery, 79, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away at his home on January 27, 2016.
Born in Chester County, PA on July 22, 1936, Gerald was the son of the late George Shivery and Edith (Shivery) Hilaman. Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired from Logistics & Transportation Services, Inc. LTSI (subsidiary of Northrop Grumman) in Baltimore, MD as a purchasing manager. He also spent portions of his career in the hardware, lumber and consumer finance industries.
Jerry’s hobbies included hunting and fishing by spending time on the Chesapeake Bay and in Western Maryland, he was passionate about building platforms and collecting model trains. He enjoyed gardening, in particular growing plants from seed and was an avid fan of sports, from the Little Leagues to the Baltimore Colts, Ravens and Orioles. In particular, he thought baseball was the greatest game of all, and it was his favorite pastime.
Surviving to cherish his memory are three sons, Brian M. and Toni Shivery of Rising Sun, Daniel K and Vicki Shivery of Rising Sun, and Kevin W. and Stephanie Shivery of North East, MD; daughter Brenda M. and Mike Cudmore of Bel Air, MD; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Burgasser, Ashley, and Brittany Cudmore, Connor, Shannon, Brendan, Kaitlyn, Lauren and Braeden Shivery; his sister Patricia Hoover of Christiana, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife Janice who passed away in January of 2015.
