George Alvan Raymond, Sr., age 83, of North East, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Transition Care Center in Elkton, MD. He was born on September 11, 1932, in Williamsport, PA. to the late George G. and Sarah Martha Fox Raymond.
George served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1953-55. Upon his return, he went to work as a truck driver in Williamsport, PA with his brother. After moving to Cecil County, he worked for various companies, most recently with Wiley’s Manufacturing in Port Deposit, where he was known as “Shakey Jake”. In his spare time, George enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his sons, George A. Raymond, Jr., and his wife, Charlene, of Wilmington, DE,; Bruce A. Raymond, and his wife, Ann, of North East, MD, John A. Raymond, of North East, MD, and Kenneth A. Raymond, of North East, MD; and a brother, Donald Raymond, and his wife, Sue, of Williamsport, PA; and numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Hazel Morris.
Services will be held at 7PM on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Family and friends may visit from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Elkton Cemetery in Elkton, MD.
