Frances Sabrowskie Mullen, age 71, of Newark, DE went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 13, 2018. She was born on February 9, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Francis Clayton Sabrowskie and Florence K. (Rickards) Sabrowskie.

Frances worked for the University of Delaware for 22 years. She loved reading romance novels, mysteries and stories about Montana. Frances enjoyed playing card games with her friends and family, especially Canasta and 2500. She enjoyed listening to music from the ’50’s and ’60’s as well as crocheting and knitting. Frances found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends.

Frances is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim Mullen of Newark, DE; four sons: James Mullen of Newark, DE, Keith Mullen and his wife, Teresa of Mountain City, TN, Shawn Mullen of Middletown, DE, Brian Mullen and his wife, Kristie of Bear, DE; three grandchildren: Noah, Makenzie and Hunter; two sisters: Kathy Backof of Newark, DE and Theresa Jackson of Dover, DE; sister-in-law, Katie Sabrowskie; brother-in-law John Backof; and many other sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her brother, Edward Sabrowskie.

A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may begin visiting at 6:00 PM. The burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances’ honor may be made payable to “Gift of Life Donor Program” and send in care of the funeral home.
