Everett (Rett) Edward Jackson, age 78 of Elkton, MD passed away on September 5, 2025. He was born on October 26, 1946 in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Arthur Edward Jackson and Reba Amanda (Randow) Burlin.

In 1968, Everett married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Evelyn “Peggy” Jackson and happily spent the next 54 years side by side, making it a point to live life to the fullest. As a couple, they enjoyed annual cruises or vacations, attending local country music festivals and spending summers at their beach house in Lewes, DE. Everett enjoyed spending time with his cats and watching John Wayne or old Sherlock Holmes movies. He had a passion for genealogy and spent years researching his family lineage at the Historical Society. He enjoyed woodworking and was a model railroad enthusiast.

A 28-year veteran of the US Army, Everett proudly served both Active Duty and Reserve Service from 1968 to1996, retiring as a Sergeant First Class (E7). During his military career he was stationed at The Presidio of San Francisco, CA and Bad Kreuznach Germany. Notably, in 1971 he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal during his tour in Vietnam. In addition to his military career, Everett was a Civil Service Employee at both the US Navy BNTC and US Army APG, where he retired after 22 years as a Supervisory Computer Specialist. Post Civil Service, he worked for AGFA (formerly DuPont/Sterling Diagnostics) and IKEA, from which he “officially” retired in 2010. Everett also attended Cecil Community College where he obtained an Associate Degree in Business Administration.

Everett is survived by his children: Brian Jackson (Anne) and Nikki Breder (George); grandchildren: Shane Andrews (Emily Jacobeen), Stephanie Andrews (Connor Wynne), Savannah Breder, and Seth Breder; great grandchildren: Maisie Andrews and Jude Potee; and his beloved cats: Ollie and Callie.

In addition to his parents, Everett is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn “Peggy” Jackson; siblings: Arthur Allen Jackson, Rita Zimmerman, Robert W. Jackson, Barbara A. Jackson, and Bonnie L. Jackson.

A celebration of Everett’s life will be Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Family and friends may attend the viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery.
