Esley Harlass (Hot Rod) Roop, Jr., 64, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away at his home February 4, 2016.
Born in Elkton, MD on December 1, 1951, Esley was the son of the late Esley Sr. and Doris Strall. He was employed at Peach Bottom as an RW Technician for 46 years. He was a fan of NASCAR and his favorite driver was Dale Ehrnhardt, Jr. He loved nature and watching the wildlife from his back porch. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 4 years, Linda Greer Roop; his daughter Margaret Roop of Rising Sun, 4 grandchildren, 3 step sons, Jodie, Jamie and Roger Johnson and 6 step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother, Bobby Roop, and 4 sisters, Darlene Ross, Freda Eller, Brenda Sawyers and Betty McIntyre, Step Sister Linda Temple , Step Brother Dick Morrison ” Best Friend ” Arb and “Red Headed step son Dan” He was preceded in death by his son, Esley Harlass Roop, III.
A celebration of Hot Rod’s life will be held Monday February 8, 2016 at 8:00 pm at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 with a visitation beginning at 7:00. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
