Emma L. Blackstone, aged 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018,

surrounded by her loving family in Smyrna, Delaware. She was born to the late Paul and Bessie Addis on July 13, 1925 in New York. Emma lived in Elkton, Maryland for many years but always referred to New York as home.

Emma worked for the family business Addis Manufacturing Company for many years. She then moved to Delaware with her family in 1969 and then to Elkton, Maryland where she worked for Bayside Community Network (formerly known as Cecil County Community Center for the Handicapped) for 20 years as a bookkeeper with many other voluntary jobs while working there and was a member of the Board of Directors, retiring in 1997. Bayside Community Network paid homage to Emma by naming one of their client homes in her name.

Emma enjoyed being with her family, traveling, driving her car, reading and sewing.

Emma is survived by her children, Elizabeth Beadling and her husband John, James Blackstone and his wife Jeanne, Paula Beutner and her husband Daniel, Frank Blackstone and his wife Christine, and Laura Weigand and her husband Richard. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, as well as step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, along with various nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind numerous friends and co-workers whom she loved and cared for.

A service will be held in Emma’s honor at 7pm on Monday, January 29, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may visit beginning at 5pm.

A private burial for Emma is planned where she will be buried with her parents in St. Charles Cemetery, Long Island, New York. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at Alzfdn.org.
