Edwin Tex Hanna, age 83 of Townsend, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at his home. He was born on September 10, 1939, in Wilmington, DE to the late Elwood Hanna and Ellen (Dehorty) Hanna.

Tex worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator starting at age 16. He retired from A-Del Construction where he spent over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time going to the mountains in Pennsylvania. Tex was an antique car collector, loved restoring classic cars.

Tex is survived by his loving wife, Joan Hanna; sons, Timmy Hanna of Townsend, DE, Jody Ciuffetelli of Wilmington, DE, and Michael Hanna of Middletown, DE; daughters, Donna Hanna of Orangeville, PA, Annette Ciuffetelli of Wilmington, DE, Robin Hanna of Townsend, DE, and Vicky Trask of Annapolis, MD; brothers, Roy Hanna, Billy Hanna, Allen Hanna; sisters, Dottie Clancy, Alise Collins, and Nancy Hanna. Also survived by 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Tex is preceded in death by his son, Edwin Tex Hanna Jr.; brothers, Elwood Hanna, and Franklin Hanna.

A celebration of Tex’s life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 12 noon, at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends may begin visiting 1 hour prior to services. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the “American Cancer Society” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
