Edward Kane

Edward “Ed” Paul Kane of Elkton, MD, age 71, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, November 3, 2019. He was born in Wilmington, DE on February 27, 1948 to the late Edward Paul Kane and Katherine (Jones) Kane.

Ed was a 1966 graduate of Conrad High School. From April 1968 he served with the 101st Airborne and was on active duty in Viet Nam from November 1968 to November 1969. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Ed attended the University of Delaware’s Plant Science Program in the Department of Agriculture.

A true Renaissance man, Ed had great curiosity, and many interests and talents. As an accomplished artist, he expressed his passion in the mediums of pen and ink drawings, cartooning, kinetic sculptures and metalworking. Ed was an avid sailor, loved riding his motorcycles and bicycles, read extensively and had a great interest in eclectic music and video gaming. He was a sports enthusiast and a loyal Philadelphia Eagles fan. Ed’s formal education in plant science led to a love of gardening where he specialized in the cultivation of a variety of hot peppers.

Ed is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 35 years, Sharon Reges-Kane; two sons: Douglas Kane and Gregory Kane; two grandsons: Joshua Kane and Sean Kane; three sisters-in-law: Nancy (Todd) Murvine, Donna (John) Hall, and Michele (Stan) Mohn; two nephews: Christopher McKeever and Ethan (Amanda) Hall; a niece: Courtney (Tim) Sowden; and his beloved German Shepherd, Zack. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Kane.
