Edna Alberta Keim, 98, of Calvert, MD went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, November 28, 2014.

Born October 21, 1916 in Calvert, MD, Alberta was the daughter of the late William and Leora (England) Little. She owned the “Little Beauty Shoppe” in Oxford, PA during her early adulthood. She grew and arranged flowers for church. She was talented in a variety of handicrafts, and enjoyed gardening. Alberta loved gatherings of family and friends at her home. Guests enjoyed games of croquet, Chinese checkers, and her gracious hospitability. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rising Sun.

Alberta is survived by her three children: William J. Keim and his wife, Susan C., Thomas L. Keim and his wife, Faith B., and Lynn N. Song and her husband, Jae Hoon; eight grandchildren: Jennifer L. Hutmire and her husband, Louis, Rebecca L. Shirk and her husband, Norman, Jacob D. Keim, Trevor T. Keim and his wife, Laura, Emilie G. Viss and her husband, Jordan, David R. Keim, Matthew I. Song, and Samuel I. Song and his wife Erin; and seven great grandchildren. Alberta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald J. Keim.

A Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery in Calvert, MD.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family as you mourn. May God provide comfort and ease your sorrow through the power of prayer. Isaiah 57:18

Distinct in my memory about my grandmom is that she always came across as a well-dressed, very cute!, and put-together woman. She kept a tissue in her sleeve and smelled like lavender. She wore work clothes in the garden, otherwise her outfits displayed her care for color and pattern, and aptly matched the occasion. I believe that Grandmom was a creative and artistic soul, who gave lots of attention to learn the proper skills for a given craft. She added her soft, bright and colorful aesthetic to decorate her farmhouse and garden, which I admire to this day. These are things I appreciate about my grandmom, but there is so much more to her. Grandmom said that the most important thing to her was knowing Christ. Her example to me was that she did not persevere in her own strength, but in her Father’s. She did what she did because she knew of Christ’s love for her and she wanted us to know that most important thing about her life too. I have long and hard looked up to this woman. I will miss most her regular prayers for me; the letters and cards; her creative, loving touch to accentuate the beauty that she appreciated in the world; and the feeling of her soft, warm hand holding mine. I thank Jesus for the life of this beautiful saint, my grandmom!

Grandmom's sweet smile, kisses, hugs, and prayers always made me feel loved. I will miss seeing her face waiting eagerly on the back porch as we piled out of the car to visit her, sitting on the front porch and just talking, listening to stories of her life, playing games and putting together puzzles, and then watching her waving to us with a smile every time we drove away. However, I am glad to know that she is happy and healthy with the Lord now and that in not too long, we will see her again.

For over 45 years, Alberta was my very dear and special friend--so gracious and always warmly welcoming us to her beautiful home. With loving remembrance...

Mom showed her love in every creative thing she did - sewing smocked dresses for my daughters, making the needlework hanging in my home, teaching me how to make pressed flower pictures and countless other memories.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I am sorry to learn of the death of my cousin, Alberta, but she had a good long life and enjoyed every minute of it, especially gardening. We will miss seeing her at the England family reunion.
