Drew Douglas Satterfield, born July 25th 2006, passed away far too soon,
leaving behind a community of family and friends who love him deeply. Drew
was a young man with a gentle spirit, a kind heart, and a way of making those
around him feel valued and cared for. Those who know him will always
remember his beautiful smile, his quiet strength, and the way he so naturally put
others before himself.
Drew is the beloved son of Mary Pieri, Henry Satterfield, and his bonus
dad Dave Pieri. He is the cherished brother to Nicholas Satterfield, David Pieri,
and Destiny Anderson. He has now joined his siblings Grace Pieri & Baby
Satterfield.
Drew is deeply loved by his grandparents Douglas & Sally Rifenburg and
John & June Satterfield, who will forever hold a special place in his life.
He is also lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who
meant the world to him. These include Matthew & Gina Rifenburg, Jonathan
Rifenburg & Audrey Hausig, Paul & Becky Satterfield, Pat & Dave Douglas, Fred
& Lynn Smith, and Tony Pieri & Pat McHugh. His cousins Rebecca & Drew
Lobley and their children Hudson and Emelia; Dillon Gayley & Annah Polasko
and their children Harper and Ella; and Odin and Adelia Rifenburg. Drew shared
a special bond with each member of his extended family and treasured the time
spent together.
Drew’s life was also filled with love “forever and ever, amen” through his
girlfriend, Keirsten Cook, who holds a very special place in his heart.
A proud member of the Future Farmers of America through Appoquinimink
High School, Drew had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the traditions
that came with it, something that was nurtured by two of his favorite teachers
Stephen Cook and Brandy Timpson who saw that spark in him and helped it
grow. Drew was currently pursuing his studies in the Criminal Justice program at
Delaware Technical Community College with dreams of one day serving his
community as a game warden or working in law enforcement. He wanted a life
of purpose, protecting others, and caring for the land he loved.
Drew had a passion for the simple things that made life meaningful. He
loved old trucks, country music, especially George Strait, and spending time
outdoors fishing, hunting, crabbing, and bow hunting. These moments in nature
brought him peace and joy.
As a child, Drew had a playful spirit and loved dressing up in costumes, a
reflection of the imagination and fun loving personality that stayed with him as he
grew. Beneath it all was a young man with a truly kind soul. Drew was known
for his generous heart, his loyalty to the people he loved, and the quiet way he
always looked out for others. Drew had a true passion for cooking, especially
when it came to smoking meats and bringing people together around food.
Whether it was preparing a meal for his family, hosting friends for game night, or
stepping into the kitchen late at night after a long day at school and work, Drew
found joy in the process. Many nights you could hear the clatter of pans and
smell something incredible coming from the kitchen, a simple reminder that
caring for others was just part of who he was.
Though his time with us was far too short, Drew’s life left an imprint on
everyone who knew him. His heart of gold, his compassion, and his love for
family and friends will forever remain in the memories of those who love him.
In honor of Drew’s love for agriculture, the outdoors, the deep friendships the
program enabled him to develop, and his involvement with the program, the
family kindly request that memorial donations be made to the Appoquinmink High
School FFA program.
