

Dorothea “Ginny” Virginia Rogers of Elkton, MD, age 87, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021. Ginny was born on January 10, 1934 in New York, NY to the late Irving Elward Burns and Dorothy Pearl Baker.
Ginny did some modeling in her earlier years and was a weather girl for Baltimore Channel 13. She also had played in a sitcom “Pete the Pirate”, was in a Blue Ribbon Bread commercial and loved singing and dancing in plays in Annapolis. She raised her family with her husband and was devoted to taking care of her family and keeping them together. Ginny loved taking the kids to the beach, especially Ocean City, MD. She loved the water and going boating with her late husband and they would travel in their private plane with the family. Ginny also was an avid reader, belonged to the Red Hat Society and was a devout Catholic.
Ginny is survived by her children: Doug Rogers and his wife Sharon, Bryan Rogers and his wife, Christine; 8 grandchildren: Alisha McKay and her partner, Robyn Fortunato, Shannon Hourihan and her husband, Ryan, Justin Rogers and his wife, Cari, Sean, Brandon, Kennedy and Jack Rogers, and Kenneth Holt and his wife, Laura; 3 great-grandchildren: Nora, Isla, LuElla; sister-in-law, Mary Willey and 3 nieces: Susan Scheffenacker-Andrews, Kristy Scheffenacker and Erin Fiore. In addition to her parents, Ginny is preceded in death by her husband, Paschal Rogers and daughter, Christina Rogers.
Services for Ginny will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “American Cancer Society” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
