Doris W. Herr of Middletown, DE, age 87, passed away Saturday July 15, 2017. She was born in West Grove, PA on April 5, 1930 to the late Ray Vernon Weiss and Sally Lou (Shepherd) Weiss.
Doris is survived by her son, John R. Sweetman and his wife, Dee of Middletown, DE; three daughters: Lona L. Meadows and her husband, Jimmy of Hagerstown, MD, Stella L. Haines and her husband, John of Chambersburg, PA, and Patricia L. Barrett of Bear, DE; as well as eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her daughter, Laura L. LaRock, son-in-law, John Barrett, great-grandchildren: Matthew Potts and Steven Stohr, Jr., and granddaughter, Alicia Minninger.
A memorial service in Doris’ honor will be held at 11AM on Friday, July 21, 2017 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may begin visiting at 10AM. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doris’ honor may be made payable to “St. Jude’s Foundation” or “American Cancer Society” and sent in care of the funeral home.
