Doris A. Wilson of Newark, DE, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her son’s home. Mrs. Wilson was born on March 8, 1937 in Wilmington, DE to the late Claude and Hilda (Webb) Records.

 

Doris graduated from Newark High School in 1955. She worked a few jobs over the years including DuPont and Gore, but the one she loved the most was being a homemaker and raising her children. She was happiest when spending time with her family. She and Wayne enjoyed many trips to Disney World over the years. Doris was so happy to take her very first plane ride to visit her brother and sister-in-law in Louisiana in 2020. She always looked forward to Saturday night dinners and knitting or playing cards at her daughter’s home.

 

Doris is survived by her 3 children: Steven Wilson and his wife, Jacque of Newark, DE, Donna Watson and her husband, Ronald of Newark, DE, Scott Wilson and his wife, Kay of Bear, DE; grandchildren: Madeline and Jeremy Wilson, Jessica Smith and her husband, Aaron, Alexis Adams, Dr. Leanne Watson Ficken and her husband, Lance, Ron Watson, Jr. and his wife, Sarah; great-grandchildren: Finn, Delaney, Caden, Zachary, Louis and Franklin; brother, William Records and his wife, Virginia of Baton Rouge, LA; and sister, Claudia Groff and her husband, Ray of Newark, DE. In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wayne Wilson; and her son, Wayne Michael Wilson.

 

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. A celebration of Doris’ life will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home where family and friends may start visiting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately after at White Clay Creek Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice and sent in care of the funeral home. To send online condolences, please visit www.rtfoard.com.

I knew Doris through her neighbor, Chris Taylor. Doris would come over when I visited Chris and she would tell me all kinds of interesting stories about her life and growing up in Newark. She knew about my hobbies and often brought newspaper clippings or news about upcoming events she thought I might like. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was such a kind, nice and lovely lady.
