Donald R. Frist, age 90, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on July 6, 2012.
Donald was born on February 7, 1922 in Port Deposit, MD to John Creswell Frist and Olive Campbell Frist. He was a graduate of The Tome School in 1940 then serving on their Board of Directors for over 50 years currently serving as Secretary. Donald served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 194 having served as the Post Commander in 1949 and also on the American Legion Post 194 Honor Guard for many years. He is a retiree of Aberdeen Proving Ground. He enjoyed restoring old cars and always had a joke to tell.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) A. Frist of twenty-three years;
stepson, Donald C. Lyle, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Harrisburg, PA; step daughter, Winnie Gochneaur and her husband Robert of Elkton, MD; niece, Sandra Tome Jack and her husband Richard of Port Deposit, MD and their children Grant C. Jack of Port Deposit, MD and Philip C. Jack of Rising Sun, MD; sister in law, Florence Frist of Rising Sun, MD; step-grandchildren, Donald C. Lyle III of San Francisco, CA and Jennifer L. Lyle, DVM of Harrisburg, PA and also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris V. (Tome) Frist who passed away in 1987; brothers, Delbert Sterling Frist and Williard (Buzz) Frist.
A visitation will be held 5-8pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 111. S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD.
Service will be held 2pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD where family and friends may call one hour prior.
