Donald E. Sinclair passed away on July 13, 2021, just eight days short of his 94th birthday. He was born in his parent’s home on Meredith Street in Kennett Square, PA, the youngest of four children of F. Graff and Violet K. Sinclair. Don was a star athlete in high school, enlisted in the Air Force his senior year in high school, and graduated from Kennett Consolidated School in 1945. In 1949, he and his friends took an epic cross country road trip in a 1936 Buick with the back seat taken out to make room for their provisions.
Don married Isabella Draper in 1952 in Daytona Beach, FL and they settled in Kennett Square on E. Sickles Street. Together they ran The House of Flowers, east of Kennett Square, before they moved into an historic house in Christiana, DE. Don was a member of the Christiana, DE Fire Company and Christiana Presbyterian Church.
Don earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Delaware by attending night school while his children were young. He began his first career in logistics for several large conglomerates. His wife joined him when he started his second career in real estate sales with Hugh Gallagher in Newark, DE. He especially enjoyed working with first time home buyers.
In retirement, Don enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. The Sinclairs traveled, played golf, and spent many hours babysitting their grandson.
Don is survived by his wife Isabel, and children Lisa, Jeff and Lynn Sinclair, and grandson, Jesse Brown and his wife Lauren.
Don’s father and grandmother were founding members of the American Legion, William Walter Fahey Post 491 in Kennett Square. If so moved, memorial donations to Post 491 would be greatly appreciated.
