Donald “Donny” C. Crothers, 66, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born on April 20, 1950 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of Mary Alice (Brown) Crothers and the late Alfred Thompson Crothers, Jr.
Donny was the owner and operator of a dairy farm, called Long Green Farms, in Rising Sun, MD, which has been in the Crothers Family for over 250 years. He was a member of various farming and community organizations. Donny had a passion for farming and loved family activities.
In addition to his mother, Donny is survived by his loving wife, Linda M. Crothers; three sons: Scott Crothers of Milford, DE, Anthony Crothers and his wife, Debbie, of Pitcher, NY, and Caleb Crothers and his wife, Alice, of Rising Sun, MD; six grandchildren: Blake, Kennedy, Camryn, Maci, Saralyon, and Henley Crothers; brother, Alfred T. Crothers, III and his wife, Joy, of Quarryville, MD; and sister, Kathy Knutsen and her husband, Warren, of Rising Sun, MD.
A visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1072 Ebenezer Church Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911, with a visitation beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Ebenezer United Methodist Church” or “Amedisys Foundation” and sent in care of the funeral home.
