Delores Catherine Coleman, age 92 of Newark, DE peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 surrounded by her family at home. She was born on September 9, 1923 in Richmond, VA to the late, Eugene Francis Carter and Beulah Maude (Purvis) Carter.

Delores was a graduate of Smithdeal-Massey Business College in Richmond and worked 18 years for Verizon first as an administrative assistant and later as an information telephone operator. She also worked as a telephone operator at the Governor Bacon Health Center in Delaware City. In her more recent years, she was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, sewing clothes, and playing with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the ladies Bible study.

Delores is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, William R. Coleman; daughters: Catherine D. Zinszer and her husband, Ralph of Newark, DE, Pamela E. Sapp and her husband, Jay of Winston-Salem, NC, and Roberta C. Taylor and her husband, Robert of Newark, DE; grandchildren: Sandra Zinszer Bell, Kelly Zinszer Ryan, Jessica Sapp Williford, Olivia J. Finley, and Michael Leo Taylor; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Delores will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:00PM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701. Family and friends are to meet at R.T. Foard & Jones, Funeral Directors and Crematory, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 at 1:00PM to leave in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks can be made to “Salvation Army” and sent c/o the funeral home.
