Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Stowell, 74, passed away on October 23, 2025.
Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Stowell was born on February 2, 1951 to Louise (McKay) Stowell and Edwin D. Stowell, Jr. in Albany, NY.
Debbie spent 2 years during high school living in Tanzania and Kenya in Africa. She graduated from Newark High School in 1970. She attended church at Head of Christiana Presbyterian before landing at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Debbie was a member of the choir at both churches, a deacon at St. Andrew’s, and the Cecil County Choral Society. She enjoyed reading, music, sewing(periodically), and could be counted on to send cards out for all occasions.
Although never married nor having children of her own, Debbie had 7 nieces and nephews (Dawn, Stephen, Michael, Robert, Lana Jean, Sara, and Krysta) and 12 great nieces and nephews to whom she always sent birthday cards. She worked for the State of Delaware for 51+ years until her death. Debbie will be missed by both family, friends, and co-workers alike.
Debbie spent her entire adult life working for a single organization – the Delaware Division of Child Support Services (DCSS). In January of 2024, she was recognized for 50 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin D. Stowell, Jr, her mother, Louise (McKay) Stowell, and her sister, Amanda Mae Wright. Debbie is survived by her two brothers, Edwin D. Stowell,III and his wife Mary (Hamill) of Wilsonville, AL, and Richard G. Stowell and his wife, Reni (Whirlwindhorse) of Spring,TX.
The family has arranged a memorial service to be held at 5:00 pm on November 2nd, 2025 at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
