Cheryl Ann (Ferrese) Vogel, age 58, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD. She was born in Elkton, MD, on January 16, 1959 to Fred J. Ferrese, Sr. and the late Shirley Jean (Kemether) Ferrese.
After earning her Nursing Degree at Cecil College, Cheryl began her 30-year career at Union Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse. Cheryl later advanced her degree to a BSN from Immaculata University and most recently worked as a nurse case manager. Cheryl was a member of the Cecil County Child Advocacy Committee where she worked with the abused and neglected children of community. She was known as an active member of the community, a true matriarch which everyone could depend on. Her concern and caring for others started at a young age, as she took responsibility for raising her siblings. She was an active Girl Scout leader, and a former President of the Hack’s Point Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. As busy as Cheryl was, she found time to take camping trips with the family, especially at Knoebels, visiting Disney World, playing bingo, and rooting for her beloved Dallas Cowboys. Her greatest joy however came from being “Grandma” to her grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.
She is survived by daughter, Kristen (Ferrese) Williams, and her husband, Chris; son, Cody Vogel, and his wife, Amy; daughter, Kara Greenwell, and her husband, Bryan; stepson, Anthony Vogel, and his wife Krystle; six grandchildren, Mason, Gannon, Jacey, Bryce, Chase, and Baby Vogel soon-to-be; brother, Fred J. Ferrese, Jr.; sister, Christine (Ferrese) Houston, and her husband, Charles “Matt”; and an aunt, Betty Jo Trexler.
In addition to her mother, Shirley Jean (Kemether) Ferrese, she is predeceased by her grandmother, Emma Kemether, her husband, Timothy Vogel, and infant sister, Annette Ferrese.
A Celebration of Cheryl’s Life will be held at 3PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Friends and family may visit two hours prior beginning at 1PM. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks can be made to The Cecil County Child Advocacy Center payable to “HSDC-CAC” and sent c/o the funeral home.
