Charles “Cheap Charlie” Joseph Richardson, age 71, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020. He was born on September 27, 1948 in Havre De Grace, MD to the late Roy Elmer Richardson and Ethel Mae (Ashley) Richardson.
Charlie grew up in Harford County, MD. He spent many days skipping school going to the Rock State Park and visiting the King and Queen Seat. Charlie worked for North East Enterprises and Crouse Construction and sold cars for Warren Boulden in Elkton, MD. He then went on to driving trucks for W.C. Logan Trucking company. Charlie started out street racing and then went on to drag racing which he enjoyed. He would go to the Cecil County Dragway and spent many days racing his car, “Aggravation”. Charlie was an avid car collector owning over one hundred twenty different types of cars, street cars, classics, and trucks so much so that sometimes he would have the same car twice. He was a member and trustee of the State Line Baptist Church in Rising Sun, MD. Charlie was in charge of the Van Ministry, he drove underprivileged children to and from church and was very involved in many activities at State Line Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Jean Richardson of Rising Sun, MD; three daughters: Lisa Ewing and her husband, Art of Belcamp, MD; Fran Rodgers and her husband, Paul of Elkton, MD ; and Kate “Baby Girl” Richardson of Bear, DE; four grandchildren: Jason Ewing, Jessica Dietz, Noah Rodgers, and Mason Rodgers; and three great-grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM at State Line Baptist Church, 560 Chrome Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911 where friends and family may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made payable to “State Line Baptist Church” in support of the van ministry and send in care to the funeral home, R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911
